Dear Pine Lake Preparatory Parents,
We have had a great many questions regarding background checks from our parents. Having a background check allows parent volunteers to be alone with students without having an Academic Partner present. PLP pays for each of the Classroom Coordinators to have a background check in order for them to better assist in the classroom. Instructions for the background checks for Classroom Coordinators have been sent directly to them.
Other parents have expressed interest in obtaining a background check on their own in order to assist more in the volunteering that they do. Some ways that parents with background checks can assist are: doing lunch duty for the Academic Partner, doing recess duty, driving on field trips, escorting students places, etc. For those interested in obtaining a background check, please follow these procedures:
- If you have lived in North Carolina for the past 7 years, send the completed form and $20.75 to:

- If you have lived outside of North Carolina in the past 7 years, send the completed
form, and $46.25 to the address/fax listed above.
Please send your completed form and payment directly to ISS made payable to ISS. PLP cannot accept payment for these background checks! Payment can be made by credit card if you choose to fax your information or by check or credit card if mailing the information.
Parents without a background check can volunteer as much as they like as long as they are not alone with the student/students without having an Academic Partner present.
