Go Green Partnership
Go Green is collecting all crayons that can no longer be used. They
will be melted down into rainbow crayons for the art room and
classrooms. If you have some at home you would like to bring in, please drop them
off in the box in the Lower School lobby by May 15th.
There was an astounding number of bottle caps collected at PLP for the 100th Day of School celebration. More than 40,000 were collected!! We should all be proud.

Go Green Partnership –
Pine Lake Preparatory (PLP) is going green! There are many benefits of being an eco-friendly school. “Going Green” provides numerous economic advantages for schools, corporations, and society as a whole. Energy efficient processes and technologies are not just good for the environment, they enable organizations to save money on energy costs. Going green can lower waste disposal costs and can give corporations and groups special marketing potential because society will encourage the use of the company. Also, improving the efficiency of a product or process usually helps save energy and therefore help the environment. Because of this, economic prosperity and saving the environment come together
Opportunities within this Partnership are both during and after school hours. This Partnership typically meets on a quarterly basis and may provide some summer opportunities.
Benefits On the Environment
Many people may think that one school cannot make a big difference in the environment. It is true that one school alone might not make the biggest impact on the environment, but schools all over the country are committed to being eco-friendly and are helping the environment. Going green can help reduce greenhouse gases, improve water quality, improve air quality, and reduce solid waste productions. Making the Earth filthy is not just dangerous for animals, it is dangerous for humans. Our drinking water comes from the same lakes and rivers that we dump all of our trash into and although that it is filtered heavily, there is a limit on how much pollution can be filtered from water. Reducing greenhouse gases is also the key to stopping global warming, which is destroying the environment right now, especially in the far northern and southern parts of the world. Air quality in general is obviously important, too. We depend on many things, one of them being the air we breathe. So naturally, ruining the air and making it so toxic that it is deadly is clearly a bad thing. Reducing solid waste is also important because we are destroying the land as landfills leek dangerous chemicals into the ground and rivers. We are also simply running out land to use for landfills. PLP wants to be a part of the movement to save the environment.
