Who are the Board members?
The Board members are: Cara Cassell-Jones, Antoinette Ellison, Chris Perri, John Moloney, Dr. Anne McIntosh, Evelyn Gerdes, and Bill Neal.
All of the board members have experience in North Carolina charter schools as parents of children attending charter schools, teachers, administrators, founders of charter schools, and/or curriculum/board advisors.
Currently, all of the board members are employed full-time in a variety of professions and their work with Pine Lake has and continues to be voluntary. The board members are united in their belief in exemplary educational opportunities for all children.

Where is the school located?
The school campus is located just south of the Mount Mourne Volunteer Fire Department and Langtree Road on Hwy 115. The school campus is on a 22 acre site on the east side of Hwy 115. The campus features a Lower Core school, Middle Core school and Upper Core school.

How do charter schools acquire facilities?
North Carolina charter schools must pay for their facilities with funds from the operating budget. Charter schools do not receive any capital funds for facilities, land, and/or construction. Therefore, the Pine Lake Preparatory Board has been working on development of the site and the school campus for over a year. Capital Fundraising and bonds are other ways in which Pine Lake Prep can secure funding for building the schools, multi-purpose room, library, and other needed facilities, including parking lots and soccer fields.
Do the students wear uniforms?
Yes. The charter states that all students K-12 will wear uniforms determined by the Pine Lake Board of Directors. Information regarding the required uniforms is available to all enrolled students prior to the beginning of the school year. Pine Lake Prep families can use Educational Outfitters located in Charlotte and Greensboro. Pine Lake Prep's school code is NC0887 . Are the teachers certified?
Pine Lake Preparatory adheres to all state guidelines for teacher certification in charter schools and requirements regarding highly qualified teachers as outlined in No Child Left Behind. Do students participate in the North Carolina ABC Testing Program and Accountability Model?
Yes. Charter Schools are required by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction to adhere to all state testing requirements.
What is the high school curriculum?
The high school curriculum follows a college preparatory model which exceeds the current required North Carolina curriculum for high school graduation. The Pine Lake Preparatory high school curriculum is designed for students who will attend a four year college program.
As an example, Freshman will most likely take: Algebra and/or Geometry, Biology, English, World History, Spanish (Required), Visual or Performing Arts (required), and participate in Service Learning (required), and an Athletic Program (required).
