Lower School Exceptional Child (EC) Teacher

Lower School Exceptional Child (EC) Teacher

Pine Lake Preparatory is currently seeking an Exceptional Children’s (EC) Teacher in the Lower School for the 2019-2020 school year. The EC Teacher should be motivated, flexible, and have the ability to work in diverse teams, as well as with students with a variety of educational needs. The EC Teacher will work in both an inclusion and resource setting.  Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Create a safe and welcoming classroom climate and a community based on respect
  • Supervise students in all situations, ensuring emotional and physical safety
  • Follow all state and federal policies and procedures for the provision of Exceptional Children’s services (including referral, eligibility and services)
  • Develop and implement an Individual Educational Program(IEP) for each assigned child
  • Schedule IEP meetings in a timely manner with the parents and IEP team members
  • Complete all paperwork assigned in a timely manner and following federal timelines as required
  • Attend all meetings for assigned students and new referrals to caseload
  • Collect student data to measure and report progress
  • Collaborate with general education staff to ensure the implementation of IEPs in the general education classroom, monitor student progress, and plan for classroom accommodations/modifications and resource lessons
  • Work with general education teachers, team leaders, associates, behavioral specialists, and parents to address student behavior and develop interventions as needed
  • Inform EC Director of any concerns, issues or potential issues with EC
  • Attend faculty, team and leadership meetings
  • Perform non-instructional duties to maintain the safety of students
  • Maintain current license and pursue professional development opportunities

Middle School Counselor

Middle School Counselor 

Pine Lake Preparatory is currently seeking a Middle School Counselor to start in the 2019-2020 school year. Utilizing leadership, advocacy and collaboration, the Middle School Counselor will promote student success, provide preventive services, and respond to identified student needs by implementing a comprehensive school counseling program that addresses academic, career, and personal/social development for all students. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

 

  • Work with school administrators to develop and manage a comprehensive school counseling program, including a written plan for effective delivery based on the NC Comprehensive School Counseling Standard Course of Study and individual school data.
  • Communicate the goals of the counseling program to all stakeholders: Board of Directors, Administrators, Teachers, Parents, Students and community/business leaders.
  • Maintain current and appropriate resources for all stakeholders.
  • Use majority of time providing direct services through Guidance Curriculum, Individual Student Planning and Preventive and Responsive Services.
  • Use data to develop comprehensive programs that meet student needs.
  • Conduct yearly program audit to review program implementation and effectiveness.
  • Collect and analyze data to guide program direction and emphasis.
  • Monitor student academic performance, behavior, and attendance and facilitate appropriate interventions.
  • Other duties as assigned

Upper School Education Associate

US Education Associate

Pine Lake Prep, a North Carolina top rated charter school, is seeking a full time Upper School Education Associate to provide both instructional and non-instructional support to a team of teachers, as designated by the school administration.  This position will work closely with teachers to complete various administrative tasks and non-instructional paperwork. The candidate in this position will manage procedures and supervise student behavior during transitions, lunch, assemblies, and other unstructured activities, as well as while the teacher delivers instruction. They may aid in instruction by supervising projects, assessments, and digital learning, and/or by instructing students in small groups or individually.

Essential functions of this position includes:

Classroom and School Environment

  • Contribute to a culture of respect, enthusiasm, and rapport
  • Manage student behavior during transitions and less structured time (e.g., study halls, lunch)
  • Monitor independent work time on assessments for separate setting, projects, skill practice or digital learning

Professional 

  • Solicit and eagerly receive feedback from supervisor and team members to improve professional skills
  • Actively monitor those students who have been assigned in school suspension.
  • Maintain administrative duties on behalf of teacher (such as maintaining confidentiality of assessments and academic integrity of students) during separate setting assessments
  • Collaborate with teacher(s) and support personnel (counselors/ESL) if applicable
  • Participate in professional development opportunities
  • Assist with preparation for state and national testing and accountability
  • Tutor small groups and individuals, under the direction and using the tools/rubrics of the supervising teachers and supervise projects, skill practice, and digital learning.

Ideal candidates will have previous experience working with students at the high school level, demonstrate effectiveness working with diverse demographics, and possess knowledge of specific health, lifestyle and associated educational needs of the specific student population.  Personal computer and related software application knowledge is a must.  A Bachelor’s degree is a plus, but not required.  Must be available for occasion travel for field trips and errands.

Pine Lake Prep, a North Carolina top rated charter school, is seeking a Part-time Event Coordinator to oversee all aspects of event planning and management, including internal and external events.  This position will also oversee our Junior Ambassador program and Friday lunch fundraising logistics.

Essential functions of this position includes:

·        Meeting with administration to work out event details, plan, scout, and book locations, food, entertainment, staff/chaperones, decor, setup and cleanup.

·        Create, maintain and communicate all budget requirements

·        Preparing and executing a detailed outline of the event needs

·        Negotiate to work out prices with vendors and contractors.

·        Selection, communication and oversight of the Junior Ambassadors program

·        Be present at the major events to include, Senior Breakfast, Senior Dinner, Homecoming Dance, Prom and Graduation.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate proficiency with organization and negotiation, as well as possess strong written and verbal skills.  Computer skills are a must, as is the ability to remain calm under pressure and demonstrate a positive and upbeat demeanor under stressful conditions.  Must have the ability to quickly resolve issues that arise during events.

Pine Lake Preparatory Lower School is currently seeking an Exceptional Children’s (EC) Associate. The EC Associate should be motivated, flexible, and have the ability to work in diverse teams. The EC Associate will be working with students with a variety of educational needs, in both an inclusion and resource setting.  Responsibilities include but not limited to:

·         Provide close student supervision and maintain student safety in all school in all school settings and activities

·         Maintain confidentiality of all student information

·         Interact with students in an age-appropriate manner that demonstrates an appropriate understanding of the student’s individual needs, abilities and disabilities

·         Carry out all physical care routines for students as indicated on the Health Plans and/or Individual Education Plans (IEPs), including but not limited to personal hygiene

·         Assist students with daily living skills (i.e. toileting, feeding, cleanliness, etc.)

·         Assist in the organization and implementation of all school related activities

·         Set up and use assistive technology and augmentative communication devices to assist students with school related activities

·         Demonstrate a basic level of computer proficiency needed to assist classroom teacher and students
