I teach because I love helping bring about that "a-ha" moment for students of every age and ability level. I enjoy being challenged to figure out how students think and what will most effectively engage them. I teach always, because I can't help it. I teach even when I'm not at school.

Every minute should be enjoyed and savored". - Earl Nightingale
My goals in teaching Spanish are best achieved by creating an active learning environment and one of the most important aspects of my philosophy is sharing the cultural aspect of the language with my students because Spanish language is enormously rich in fables, stories, tradition and history.

I finished my Masters this past June and was lucky enough to hear about the open position in 5th grade science at Pine Lake. This is my fifth year teaching 5th grade science. Through the relationships developed between the teachers, students, and parents we can assist all students to become successful now and in the future. The students we teach today must be prepared to be the leaders of tomorrow. I am honored to have the opportunity to be one of the influences toward making this a reality.

It is my belief that every child as the ability to learn and it is my purpose to find the best avenue for their learning. I had a coach once tell me that every day you should learn something new because if you don't others will past you by in life. I have taken that advice to heart and find different ways to present material and encourage my students to help them build relationships, critical-thinking skills, and learning to cope and respond to adversity.
Middle School can be some of the hardest years a student will experience. I enjoy helping our students get through these years. A positive environment is so important and it is my goal to be a positive influence to our students. I am also a mom of two (almost grown) children. My oldest is in college and my youngest will graduate from high school this year! I will soon be an "empty nester" and am thankful to have the PLP middle school students to interact with.
I am originally from Syracuse, New York (GO ORANGE!) and moved to NC a few weeks after graduating from college.
