My philosophy is rooted in creating a safe, engaging, and enriching environment where children can thrive beyond the school day. Transitioning from corporate aviation to education showed me that my true passion lies in making a meaningful, daily impact on students' lives. I believe that after-school programs are a vital extension of learning, where kids can discover new interests, build lasting friendships, and simply enjoy being kids.

My name is Carlos Briceño. I’m originally from one of the most beautiful cities in the world—Bogotá. Colombia. I now live in this wonderful country with my wife, our two beloved children, and our two fluffy kittens. I’m a dedicated educator with over 16 years of teaching experience. Throughout my career, I’ve worked with diverse student populations, particularly English and Spanish language learners. I’m passionate about creating inclusive, engaging learning environments where all students feel supported and empowered. Outside of school, I enjoy spending quality time with my family, going to church, traveling, dancing and singing, and playing and watching sports. I believe in the power of education to transform lives—which is why teaching isn’t just my profession; it’s the heart of who I am.

It is my belief that every child has the ability to learn and it is my purpose to find the best avenue for their learning. I had a coach once tell me that every day you should learn something new because if you don't others will pass you by in life. I have taken that advice to heart and find different ways to present material and encourage my students to help them build relationships, critical-thinking skills, and learning to cope and respond to adversity.

I am excited to begin my 8th year of teaching, with most of my experience in Kindergarten! I love being part of such an important stage in a child’s life, where I get to watch students grow in their independence, discover new interests, and develop a lifelong love of learning. Creating a classroom that feels warm, safe, and welcoming is very important to me. I want every child to know they are valued, supported, and loved as they learn, grow, and build confidence each day!

Outside of school, I am married to my husband, John, and we have two wonderful boys, Clark and Luke. As a family, we love spending time outdoors and making memories together.

I am passionate about serving as the Development Director at Pine Lake Preparatory because I have experienced firsthand the impact this school has had on my own family. Both of my sons have attended Pine Lake, and I have seen the exceptional education, caring environment, and opportunities the school provides to students. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband, our two sons, and our dog, Kirby. I'm a big fan of Disney, relaxing at the beach, and cheering on my favorite college football and baseball teams.

Over the course of my career in education, I have held a wide variety of positions in a school setting including Teacher, Mentor, Principal, Community/Board Liaison, and Director of Business Operations.  This experience has enabled me to understand the complexities of running a successful charter school from a variety of different perspectives.  While I have a passion for classroom instruction, I am also deeply fulfilled by serving the greater community at large in other capacities.  Some of my hobbies and passions include travel, cooking/dining, fitness/nutrition, music, reading, and binge-watching/listening to the trendiest new releases in streaming services and podcasts.  You’ll often find me walking the streets of Davidson while taking in my favorite songs or the latest podcast release or audiobook I’ve been following. When not at work, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Dan, our son, Jack, and all of the family and friends we have made along the way.  Being part of the PLP community is a true joy, and I look forward to continuing to grow and connect with students, staff, and families.

I started my teaching career in New Orleans, where I loved teaching lower school and working in school admissions. After moving to North Carolina, I spent several years in school supply sales. I am now thrilled to join the faculty full time at Pine Lake Prep.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, being outdoors, traveling, practicing yoga, crafting, and staying creative. I have wanted to be a teacher since childhood and feel grateful to be part of a school community my children and family love.

Andrea Leluika has worked in North Carolina schools for 18 years. She has enjoyed being a music teacher, middle school principal, pre-school teacher, and now the Registrar/Data Manager for PLP. Her husband and 3 children are also part of the Pride; Mr. Leluika is the Digital Art teacher and children are in 6th, 5th, and 1st grade. Andrea enjoys spending time with her three dogs and in her garden when she is not at PLP!

I have been in education for over 15 years and working at the elementary level for 9. I teach because I have a heart for service and want to do all I can to pour into the next generation. I have 3 daughters Avery, Adelyn, and Abigail. In addition to teaching at PLP. I am an assistant varsity football coach at Davie High. My hobbies include attending and watching football, baseball, and basketball. My favorite team is Wake Forest. Go Deacs! I am also active in my local church and volunteer with the youth program there.
