Boosters Scholarship

PLP Athletic Boosters Scholarship Guidelines 

Each year, the PLP Athletic Boosters will award four Boosters Athletic Scholarships.  

The Boosters Athletic Scholarship of $1,500 will be awarded to two (2) male and two (2) female college bound seniors who participated in one or more of the school’s athletic programs. The criteria for this  scholarship are as follows: 

     ∙ Student must meet the General Qualifications for any Booster Scholarship as set forth in Section 2 of this Article.    

     ∙ Student must be a leader on his/her teams. 

     ∙ Student promotes the interests of PLP. 

     ∙ Student plans to attend a two-year or four-year college or university or a post grad school. 
 

Section 2: Qualifications for any Boosters Scholarship 

Following are qualifications that must be met for any Boosters Scholarship: 

∙ Student’s parent(s) or family member/guardian must be a member of the PLP Athletic  Boosters. Access the membership page to join here: https://www.pinelakeprep.org/athletics/plp-boosters

∙ Student must have participated in at least one PLP Varsity sport during his or her Senior year. 

∙ Student must have represented PLP in a positive manner and consistently demonstrated  sportsmanship in all athletic contests. 

∙ Student must have a good disciplinary record with the school. 

∙ Student must have minimal absences and an outstanding academic record. 

∙ Students who receive a full college scholarship (for any reason) are not eligible to receive either  of these scholarships. The term “full college scholarship” refers to the payment in full of  tuition, room and board, books and fees for a full school year by any combination of  scholarships or grants.

 

Section 3: Selection of Scholarship Recipients 

Any eligible student-athlete who wishes to  apply for a Boosters scholarship must complete the online Application form. Following is a link to the  Scholarship Application:

Please note the following: 

∙ The student needs recommendations from a coach or coaches. We would recommend them  getting those recommendations by email or a shared Google doc.  You will copy and paste the recommendation into the google doc.  Boosters will confirm these recommendations with the coaches, so be sure to include their names and school emails.

∙ The student, armed with a recommendation(s), would then complete the Scholarship  Application Form.

PLP Athletic Boosters Scholarship Guidelines 

The student will copy and paste the coach’s recommendation(s) into the Application. The  recommendation must include the coach’s name, their email address, and their comments. 

∙ When the form is complete, the student will SUBMIT the form. 

∙ The deadline for submission is May 10, 2025. 

∙ The student will receive the completed application in an email (the email address that they  provided in the form). 

∙ All applications will be sent to the Board Members, and the process that is outlined in the  Boosters Scholarship Guidelines will be followed. 

After all applications have been submitted, the PLP Athletic Boosters Board (currently comprised of Rachel Lewis, Stephen Coleman, Kimberlee Strickfaden, Johanna Ray, Megan Grisby, Marshall McDonald, Kim Ngo and Courtney Brizendine) will review the applications. If necessary, the  Board members may consult with the Upper School Head of School and the Athletic Director. They may  also conduct brief interviews with all applicants. After review, they vote for and select the scholarship  recipients. This selection process will be completed by the Athletic Banquet on May 18, 2025.

If any member of the Boosters Board has a child who is being considered for a scholarship, the Board  member will be removed from the entire Scholarship Selection process. If there is an even number of  Board members, one member will abstain from voting to avoid any ties. 

Section 4: Awarding Scholarships 

Scholarships will be awarded at the End of Year Athletic Banquet on May 18, 2025. 

Checks will be written in the individual students’ names.
