Welcome

The Upper School at Pine Lake Preparatory began educating students in the Lake Norman region during the 2008 - 2009 school year. During this first year, our school opened its doors to 272 students from ninth through eleventh grade. The following year, we graduated our first group of seniors! As we begin the 2019 - 2020 school year, we have grown to approximately 600 students in grades nine through twelve coming from all areas of the Lake Norman region.

This year we are excited to open our brand new STEM building. This state of the art building is equipped with nine classrooms dedicated to exposing our children to science, engineering and technology. We have two tracks on Project Lead the Way: Engineering and Computer Science. In addition to the science classrooms, the STEM building features a beautiful theatre that provides an enriching environment for our students to display Pine Lake’s commitment to the arts including classes in acting, music and technology as it relates to performances.

As we prepare our students for life in the 21st century, I am proud to be a part of a one-to-one initiative where all of our Upper School students are issued a MacBook Air to use throughout the school year. Through the use of this device, students are able to create and learn in ways that seemed impossible a generation ago. Our students are learning through inquiry, flipped lessons, and countless other approaches implemented by our amazing Upper School staff. This approach to education has allowed test scores to soar and has ensured that nearly all of our students continue their education at either a two or four year college/university.

To help our students in their decision of selecting a higher educational institution, we have added a College Counselor to our guidance department. She will assist our students in locating and securing scholarships, arranging college visits, and in helping them sign up for collegiate level courses while still in high school. With her help, all of our students will have the knowledge and support to locate and select the perfect college/university to pursue their own individual dreams.

Our staff is excited for the upcoming 2019-2020 school year and we know that are students are going to excel in the classroom, on the athletic fields and demonstrate “PRIDE” in the community. As our students and alumni continue to thrive, I want to close with a quote that will be showcased in my office thanks to the artistic talents of our students: TODAY, I AM PROUD OF MY SCHOOL. TOMORROW, MY SCHOOL WILL BE PROUD OF ME. I hope every student, teacher, parent/guardian, community member, alumni, etc. shares in this passion for Pine Lake Preparatory.
