Our leadership team spends three days doing intensive training with our mentors focusing on communication, leadership skills, team building, project management, and other important skills to help them be successful in leading the different sub-teams and managing others. This year we focused on measurable development of our team's "Why" and mission, as well as efficient use of tools like gantt charts to measure our deliverables and contingencies for the build and pre-season.
On our team, all members are trained in both the operations and engineering sub-teams. This allows members to experience the importance of both running a business and operations development as well as the production of the robot.
We have whole team training on Safety, Awards, Scheduling and Project Management, Marketing/Brand Standards and Gracious Professionalism, in addition to focused training on each sub-team including Marketing and Social Media, Sponsorship, Outreach and Finance.
Scheduling and Project Management
We use platforms like SLACK, HIVE, and Google Calendar to help us manage our team's schedule and make sure we are using clear communication and expectations on deadlines.
On our team, we hold comprehensive engineering trainings by our mentors and sub-team leads. These include Shop Safety Training, Mechanical Tool Training, CAD & Design Training, Electrical Training, Software and Design Training and more.
