EC Teacher - Lower School
Pine Lake Preparatory is currently seeking an Exceptional Children’s (EC) Teacher in the Lower School. The EC Teacher should be motivated, flexible, and have the ability to work in diverse teams, as well as with students with a variety of educational needs. The EC Teacher will work in both an inclusion and resource setting. Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Create a safe and welcoming classroom climate and a community based on respect
- Supervise students in all situations, ensuring emotional and physical safety
- Follow all state and federal policies and procedures for the provision of Exceptional Children’s services (including referral, eligibility and services)
- Develop and implement an Individual Educational Program(IEP) for each assigned child
- Schedule IEP meetings in a timely manner with the parents and IEP team members
- Complete all paperwork assigned in a timely manner and following federal timelines as required
- Attend all meetings for assigned students and new referrals to caseload
- Collect student data to measure and report progress
- Collaborate with general education staff to ensure the implementation of IEPs in the general education classroom, monitor student progress, and plan for classroom accommodations/modifications and resource lessons
- Work with general education teachers, team leaders, associates, behavioral specialists, and parents to address student behavior and develop interventions as needed
- Inform EC Director of any concerns, issues or potential issues with EC
- Attend faculty, team and leadership meetings
- Perform non-instructional duties to maintain the safety of students
- Maintain current license and pursue professional development opportunities

Personal Needs Assistant - Upper School
Personal Needs Assistant - Upper School
Pine Lake Preparatory is currently seeking a Personal Needs Assistant for a high school student. The Personal Needs Assistant will provide one-on-one support for a high school student with specific needs, facilitating their participation in daily educational activities and ensuring their safety, comfort, and social engagement. The role involves working closely with the student, teachers, and school staff to create an inclusive and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Personal Assistance:
- Assist the student with daily personal care needs, such as mobility, hygiene, and bathroom assistance if required.
- Support with tasks to improve accessibility in the classroom and other school settings.
- Academic Support:
- Provide focused assistance in classroom settings to reinforce learning, explain instructions, and support the student with assignments and activities.
- Work collaboratively with teachers to modify or adapt learning materials to meet the student’s individual needs.
- Behavioral and Emotional Support:
- Monitor and support the student’s behavioral and emotional well-being, providing a calming presence and redirection if needed.
- Encourage positive interactions with peers, helping the student develop social skills and fostering an inclusive environment.
- Medical and Safety Assistance:
- Follow any health care plans and protocols for the student, which may include administering medication, monitoring for symptoms, and providing physical assistance as necessary.
- Maintain constant awareness of the student’s safety and alert school staff to any concerns.
- Documentation and Communication:
- Record daily observations related to the student’s progress, behavioral changes, and any incidents.
- Communicate regularly with teachers, support staff, and parents/guardians to keep them informed and ensure consistency in the student's care and support plan.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional training in special education, social work, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience working with children or young adults in an educational or caregiving setting, especially those with special needs, is highly preferred.
- Skills: Strong communication skills, patience, empathy, and an understanding of developmental and behavioral needs.
- Other Requirements: Ability to handle physical tasks such as lifting or assisting with mobility. First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.

EC Adaptive Teacher - Middle School
Pine Lake Preparatory is currently seeking an Adaptive EC Teacher for a self-contained classroom in the Middle School. Under general supervision, this teacher will provide special education services to students identified as disabled in accordance with state and federal regulations. Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
- Will serve as an instructor and case manager, providing student support, and building close learning partnerships with families and the teaching team.
- Will follow all Regular Education Teacher Expectations - including but not limited to: Attendance, Assignments, Grades, Communication Policies, Attend Assigned Staff Meetings, Reporting Concerns.
- Is responsible for the development of Individual Education Programs (IEP) for students with disabilities; implements the IEP, and uses diagnostic information obtained from, including but not limited to previous reports, cumulative folder, EOG/EOC test scores, psychological & educational assessments, discipline records, physician's reports, retentions, and past, and present IEPs.
- Employs a variety of teaching methods to meet student needs. Implementation of these methods may require the adaptation or development of materials for an online environment.
- Communicates with parents regarding their children's educational progress and complete required periodic written progress reports. Consults with parents, district-level professionals, and community support professionals to better understand and meet student needs (when appropriate).
- Maintains student records in accordance with North Carolina's Procedures Governing Programs and Services for Children with Disabilities, and complies with state and federal education statutes.
- Completes drafts of all necessary paperwork 1–2 weeks in advance of due dates (IEPs, Re-evaluations, Initials, transfers, etc.) and provides drafts to parents and/or compliance specialists.
- Conduct all IEPs, Re-evaluations, Initials, transfers, etc., meetings by the due date, ensure all required signatures are collected and paperwork is filed and sent home to parents in a timely manner.
- Ensure all general education teachers have the necessary paperwork to include but not limited to updated accommodation lists, behavior plans, and medical concerns.
- Treats all students in a fair and equitable manner and effectively interacts with all students, co-workers, parents, and the community.
The candidate must be licensed in North Carolina EC Adaptive. They must also be able to use a variety of equipment and classroom tools to include any necessary adaptive, occupational, or physical equipment for students to access the curriculum.

Previous successful coaching experience in the applicable sport is required.
Coaching positions are paid via a stipend at the conclusion of the season. As a seasonal, non-contract position, benefits are not available.
